Thanks, Daisy and Anita. I guess I will have to practice, Daisy. You may or may not remember, that you've actually read the story, Daisy. It has been revamped since you read it, but it's the same story. But keep that a secret.

I read the People's Friends page, Robert, and it's very good. I guessed you'd maybe based it on someone you knew as that comes across in the writing. Your writing denotes you know that couple very well. That's so sad that your mum never got to read the story.

I thought it might be that one Julie - I have it on my computer - discovered it the other day - so read it again. I'll be interested to read the revamped version in due course. It's a good story.

Thanks Rob for that first chapter! I would love to know the rest, it sounds very interesting ;) even if a bit in the Fairyland which I usually don't read that often.

Having read your above posts, Rob, it is clear that 'Golden Memories' and 'The Cobweb Door' are very well-written. In particular, they both have the attribute of drawing the reader into the story, always a major factor in successful writing. Well done.

Incidentally, I also like the illustration for 'Golden Memories' drawn by one L. Anton.

Thank you, Dianah and Domino! :-)

Cobweb Door is indeed a fantasy/espionage type thriller!

People who read my stories always tell me I'm good at painting a picture with words, and they always feel as if they are actually in the scene, which is encouraging. Just recently someone who reads a lot read one of my adult 'sagas' The Last Summer - which is set simultaneously in 1879, 1898 and 1939 and he said he didn't want it to end! A compliment indeed! :-D I've written a couple of adult novels set in Birmingham in the 1900's, which people tell me are very atmospheric and they can't believe I wasn't there at the time!

However, I can't seem to get a publisher to think the same thing! :-(
'Oh voice of Spring of Youth
hearts mad delight,
Sing on, sing on, and when the sun is gone
I'll warm me with your echoes
through the night.'

Yes, I will do, Dot, don't worry. I've already put forward my ideas to the production dept for my book cover, and given them the 'blurb' for the story. It's a real eye opener being involved in this way. It's just sinking in now that this is for real as it were. :)

When mine was published I had no choice in the book cover and only chose one of the inside pictures. Mine wasn't fiction though so maybe that's the difference.

It's psychology for A2 level https://www.amazon.co.uk/Books-Dot-Blak ... 0Blakemore

It's old now as the A levels have been revamped last year.

Gosh, what a clever lady you are Dot. :)

My daughter got a degree in psychology in one of her courses for the O.U.

I did my degree through the OU! It took six years. I did it when my children were small and childminded at the same time as I wanted to stay at home to look after them. :D

We will know how successful Julie's book is by the number of pages on this forum devoted to it, should she give it its own thread, It would have to go some to beat Isabirye's monster thread! :D
