What's the title and on which website can I find it? :D

Rob Houghton wrote:...the rest comes as I write - usually as I'm going to sleep - so I keep a notepad by the bed to scribble ideas on. This is the single most important piece of advice I ever read - in a 'how to write novels' book I once had. Even dreams can sometimes provide inspiration.
Same here, I had so many ideas for my novel after I turned off the light that I finally kept a flash light/torch and a writing pad with a pen(cil) next to my bed.

The title of the other Enid Blyton novel? It's on this website in the serials section - 'The Mystery of the Disappearing Tramp' - a Fatty mystery. I'm sure you've probably read it in the past. :-)

Haven't been in any BBC films unfortunately. I've been in quite a few episodes of 'Doctors' which is a BBC lunchtime 'soap' filmed near where I live, plus a couple of other BBC series.

here's one trailer which features me from a year or two ago - but it's only a few seconds, starting at 1:40.

However...I don't think this will be viewable outside the UK. I'm the bald headed man in the grey suit who man-handles the guy out of the warehouse! We played kidnappers!

Gosh, this thread has been suddenly growing.

Maybe Anita or Tony could separate some of it, so that it doesn't interfere with the serials that are running at any precise time. Maybe a heading could be make about - How We Write or something similar, as some seem to be interested in how we produce our work. :)

I agree - a new thread would be great - as I too feel it interferes with the Weekly serial thread - but its always good to hear about other writers on here, so a new split thread might be good! :-D

The thread has now been split.

Maybe not, Rob, depends on who are the writers amongst us.

So...to start the ball rolling, Julie - do you plan your stories in detail or just write them with a rough idea in your head? As I've said, I usually only have a rough idea, as I feel the same way about making a plan or synopsis as you do about talking about a book you're currently writing - I feel a detailed plan will jinx my plot so I prefer to just store ideas in my head! 8)

By the way, I love the title of this thread 'How Do We Write?' - it sounds like one of those 'Peter and Jane' Ladybird books of the 1970's!!

To answer your question, Rob, no I don't plan any story in detail. I don't even know what the full plot is going to be like until I start to right. As I write it just seems to take shape. I don't even know how it will all end, until I'm well into the book I'm writing. When I'm writing I don't talk about what I'm writing at all, I just do it. But of course I guess it helps, knowing the characters of the continuation novels I am writing about.

Over the years I've written quite a number of stories, but they are somewhere in the loft.

Recently I got one down, and re-read and revamped it. And it's been accepted by a publisher.

I wont say anything further, as I've only just signed the contract, and it's all new to me now the road I will be going down, and I don't want to jinx anything. So once I know when the book will be available, I will let you all know.

So until then, I'm keeping the cards close to my chest as it were! :)

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)
