Good luck, Poppy! I bet it will turn out great!

My mom made the most beautiful Christmas puddings ever - but sadly as she's no longer with us, we will never taste those gorgeous puds again. :-( She never used suet, only vegetable fat - and this made them lighter and less stodgy. 8)

Tony Summerfield wrote:Looking at this thread it has just occurred to me that I will be without a homemade Christmas cake this year. Every year for the last thirty years my neighbour across the road made me a wonderful Christmas cake, but sadly she died a few weeks ago. I will also miss the super Christmas Meals that she sent across to me on Christmas Day.
I'm sorry to hear that, Tony. WI markets sell good homemade Christmas cakes and puddings if there's one near you, sadly it won't be the same though, as with the super Christmas meals.

Co-op's mince pies are much much better than Sainsburys this year, although they look remarkably alike at first glance..

The co-op do a store baked deep fill pack of two for £1. They too are delicious.
My wife wants to try Greggs mince pies now to see if they are as good as the co-op's.
