Just bought this sumptuous book about Downton Abbey (rrp £20)off ebay for £3.99 delivered in a used but good condition.
What a bargain I thought,but maybe I will check amazons best price,I'm sure they could never have matched that!!

Wrong! Amazon had used copies available in excellent condition at £3.00 inc postage!

Well according to the Sun 'THE women of Downton Abbey take charge tonight as the award-winning ITV1 drama roars into the 1920s.'

(I think you could be right though Icey, in that Downton Abbey may well cover that momentous decade in the future,if the series continues for that long)

I'm really enjoying the new series and find that the time simply whizzes by whilst watching it.
There seems to be lots of very interesting plot lines being developed all at once,just like many of Enid's best books!

Hang in there Mr Bates.Poor Lady Edith jilted at the alter,although now blasting off explosive missives to the Times about women’s rights.Matthew new joint Lord of the Manor set to ruffle feathers.
Lady Sybil in Anglo Irish controversy-not to mention the site of Wee Willie Branson in his P'Js,
Downstairs two new faces,the handsome swoonable new footman Jimmy/James (not Alf!) and a new kitchen helper to rival Daisy's affections for the 6' 4 inch footman,Alfred.
Heart rending scenes involving ex members of kitchen staff, now fallen on very hard times giving up their beloved children in the hope that they will be able to enjoy a better life....

And If that wasn't quite enough, we were treated to more dramatic technological excitement in the form of Mrs Hughes’ new fangled smoke emitting electric toaster!

Phew!

And finally it seems that filming for the Xmas special 2012 is slowly drawing to a close..so we have that to look forward to as well at the end of the year!

Yes, I love DA as well. However, I really dislike the prison storyline. We have enough prison dramas, and to me, the whole atmosphere/ambience of DA is ruined every time we cut to the prison scenes.

Yes, I agree about the prison bits, as Bates shouldn't really be in there in the first place. Yet they're dragging it on!!!

I thought it was well revised last night, when I noticed all the servants stood as the Butler walked into the room they were eating in. That's exactly what the Bulter expected in those days!!!

Yes, I noticed that as well. I thought one of the 'upstairs folk' had walked in. The staff of 165 Eaton Place never stood up when Hudson walked in.....

I must say I agree with the comments about the prison storyline. It is certainly dragging on far too long, especially as Bates shouldn't be there in the first place, as you rightly point out, Julie.

I enjoy watching this programme too, although I only got into it about half way through the second series.

I only got into it at xmas!

Last night's episode was sad.It seems Mr Julian Fellowes is not going to spare any of his characters from the sad unforeseen events of real life...

Yes, last night was quite a tear jerker, I really didn't think she'd die!!! They should have listened to Dr. Clarkson. Sue that other toffee nosed doc who wouldn't listen, that's what I say!!!
