It's been many years since I travelled through the Long Mynd area. Apart from walking, the best way to view this beautiful part of England is by rail on the very scenic Shrewsbury to Newport line. I did this in style a number of times back in the early 1980s, proper trains back then with comfortable sprung seats. :D

I always get a thrill when I come across countryside that matches Alfred Bestall's illustrations in the Rupert Bear annuals. Shropshire provides Nutwood in abundance, as does the Meon Valley in my home county of Hampshire.

All this talk of crumble reminds me of cookery lessons at my school back in 1978. In a misguided move to discourage gender stereotyping, they had girls doing woodwork/metalwork and boys doing cookery and needlework. It was very wrong indeed, us poor lads just wanted to be let loose on the lathes, certainly not baking crumble!

Actually, I wouldn't have minded doing Metalwork and Cookery. I'd enjoy doing both. 8) But not Woodwork and Needlework.

Just thought those who have a spare £625,000. (six hundred and twenty five thousand pounds) might want to buy the recent cottage just up for sale in Port Isaac. It's known to millions as the home of 'Doc Martin' of Port Wenn. Obviously its only the outside shots they use in Doc Martin, the interior shots are filmed in their make shift studio, in a large barn a few miles from Port Isaac.

Needless to say, no local will be able to afford to buy this cottage.

It's even being advertised with an agent over in Truro. Miles away from Port Isaac. Sadly a sign of the times, that the local born people in Port Isaac have to move further afield if they want to buy or even rent a property. Sadly a lot of these holiday cottages are empty during the winter months.

I share your concerns Julie. However, the answer is easily provided by Cornish people themselves. Don't sell your property to people who aren't local. All of these holiday properties have been sold by the local people to furriners.

This is also true Nigel. And a fact that keeps being brought to their notice. Unfortunately, I think the money has a lot to do with it, and now the main damage has been done to a lot of these fishing villages which are like ghost towns come the winter.

I just made this Enid Montage for my project and thought I'd share it.

It's not very good, but here you go!

"So my Mother told me that when I was two years old!" said Julian and the others giggled.

Hey, that's really good Steph. You've chosen some of the best ones of Enid. What a lovely smile she had. Well done. :D

Really? It was cobbled together in under five minutes!

Golly, that's a simply wizard montage! Much better than I would have done in five minutes, I think!

Boodi is excited, as a new horse (a five year old mare) is coming to our stable on Monday, so from then on I shall have two horses instead of one. I am so pleased that I just thought I would share the happy news with everyone.
"I mean - unless you saddle and bridle and groom your own horse, it isn't a real horse!" (Jack Longfield, Six Cousins at Mistletoe Farm).
