This happens to me, too, but only since I've had Windows 10 which installed itself without my permission. :x

I don't remember getting that triangle, when I was using Windows 10. Don't mean I didn't get it, from time to time. Just don't remember it, now.

Wolfus.

I got a book on using OS/2 Warp 4 coming. :) Should be delivered, within the next 2 - 3 business days. It'll be a good read, I reckon. :D

Had an interesting problem recently. I restarted my pc to deal with one problem, only to have the restart stalled for hours on that Windows update screen which warns one not to turn one's computer off 'cos it's busy updating.

Not sure what it was updating. I had downloaded & installed Windows updates KB3200970, KB890830, and KB3202790 the day before but, as I always do, I checked afterwards to be sure that there were no failed updates. Some non-Windows updates use the Windows Installer, without :? the courtesy of telling you that they are updating........or even that they have updated.

Got some good news for ArcaOS 5.0, everyone. General Availability (product release) is now on 31st March, 2017. Link to Arca Noae's web page is below.

https://www.arcanoae.com/current-releas ... blue-lion/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Problem though, is that it doesn't have anything on the pricing, for it. What I will do, is to contact Arca Noae,, to find out. I'll let yuou all know, in due course.

Update.

Arca Noae weren't able to give pricing, but they did confirm that there'll be 2 flavours of it: Commercial, and Personal. The Personal one, will be cheaper.

They'll also post links to, or post screen shots, when they think it's near-enough finalized.

Do any other members, receive scam phone calls, from someone pretending to be from TalkTalk (or other internet service provider), my mum, got a phone call (earlier today), from someone, pretending to be from TalkTalk, just a criminal, from a foreign call centre, claiming that someone was trying to use my computer.

We get scam calls telling us our computer is playing up and they will walk us through restoring it for free. We always just say no thanks!

Anyone know where I can download 32bit Windows 7 drivers, for a Toshiba Tecra A9 laptop? Model is PTS52A-0CT017.

I've already tried Toshiba's website, but all they have are for XP and Vista. Though there are links to Windows 8.x and 10.

I've finally taken the plunge (after acquiring an external hard drive and backing up everything) and upgraded my Mac laptop from OS 8 Mountain Lion to OS 10 Sierra. Mercifully it was still compatible — I was worried that if I left it too long, Apple would come up with another new system that my older one wouldn't be able to upgrade to. So far, to my relief, everything's working well — the new look is a little different but I'll get used to it, and all my files and photos etc. are all still in place. (What held me back from upgrading in the first place was that a friend with the same kind of MacBook upgraded it to one of the earlier new offerings, OS Mavericks (well named), and all her files disappeared. )

Anyway, at least now there's one fate I don't have to fear (I hope)...

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

That's true enough as no one needs an upgrade that leaves you with a huge paperweight!

I've not upgraded my Mac recently, I don't intend to either. I updated whatsapp and my fave emoji disappeared! :(

As for spam phone calls, well, we still have our US number despite living in India, so people calling us on that number have no way of knowing we're actually living in India, they assume we're living at the adress the number corresponds to, which is actually our old home which we have now rented out. This has resulted in quite a few, er, interesting conversations over the years. These are usually from scammers who have a fake American accent and are actually quite clearly Indians. It usually goes something like this:

Guy: 'Hello, is this Mr......(dad's name)'
Dad: 'Yes speaking'
Guy: 'Sir, I am speaking from '....' Bank. We have received notice that some unnatural activity has been carried out from your account. You must give us your credit card number so we can correct it.'
Dad: 'And what will you do if I refuse?'
Guy: 'Sir, this is a serious issue, we are sending the Police over to your doorstep right now.'
Dad: 'Please do, I would like to tell them a piece of my mind'
Guy: 'Sir please calm down.'
Dad: 'There's one thing I would like to know, what is the name of my mother? It's there in the details at your bank.'
Guy: silence
Dad: 'Sir?'
Guy: 'Your mother's name is ******* (Hindi swear words) Sir'
Dad: 'You honestly thought I'd fall for this?
Guy: 'The police are coming ****** (more swearing).
Dad: 'I live in India and that's not even my bank.
*Hangs up*

I'd be inclined to tell the caller that my bank already knows my credit card number.
