I'm typing this on Arabian soil... still quite a bit exhausted from the journey, and the fact that we had to stand for 3 hours in a queue for immigration. I was nearly falling as we at last reached my father's home at midnight! At least we had a safe journey....

The magic words are coming to my mind - Holiday Time! Sightseeing, travelling, and eating great foods... what could be better?! As someone said in a book (can't remember which), school seems so far away.

Great photos, Anita. I must try to remember how to post some photos of my Dorset visit later in the summer. I have used Photobucket in the past, but I did experience some difficulties when doing so.

The summit is almost 700 feet above sea level so it's hardly a mountain, although the climb is quite steep in places but well worth it for the wonderful views.

I always have a bit of trouble with Photobucket, Eddie, but usually get there eventually!

Glad you got to Saudi Arabia okay, Philip, though the 3-hour queue sounds like a nightmare!

Forgot to take any photos of picnics or ices. Suppose I was too busy eating!

I'm afraid not, Jen-Jen. Gwrych Castle is actually only about 200 years old (a rich man had it built in a mediaeval style) so I'm guessing that it probably never had dungeons. It was inhabited until about twenty years ago (jousting displays were held there when I was a girl and I believe part of it was a hotel for some years) but sadly is now gradually becoming a ruin. The roofs and floors have fallen in (or been vandalised in some cases), there are cracks in the walls, plants and trees are growing through and over parts of the building, some of the boulders are loose, etc. When we visited the castle a couple of years ago it was still possible to go inside but now the doorways have been blocked up as it is becoming dangerous. I heard that some work was done on the castle about a year ago to at least preserve the structure as it is now, but I don't know what the future holds.
