It really irritates when people say this! I often greet someone by saying, "How are you, old thing?" or something like that. The usual reply is. "Hey, less of the old." It has nothing to do with age, as devoted Blytoneers will know. Just a term of endearment. I often greet my 6 year-old grandson in this way!
He probably appreciates it being referred as old. In many cases people prefer it not being addressed as old from a certain stage of age on ;-).

Happy Birthday Ming! :D

Ming is in New Zealand which is about 12 hours ahead of the UK, so it made sense to start the birthday wishes early!
If that is how it works, shouldn't Facebook announced it on the 15th, not the 17th?

I don't use Facebook so I don't know about the notifications there. On this website the names of birthday people come up according to whichever time zone we've selected, but if we remember someone's birthday and know they're several hours ahead we can always revive their birthday thread in line with their own time zone.

It's all getting too complicated for me! I'll stick with my own time zone, if you don't mind! :D

Happy Birthday, Ming!
Before someone points out the contradiction with the above in my first post on this thread, I'll save you the time. Never said I was consistent, did I? :)

Nigel, you're just reminding me of some comedy act I heard on the radio years ago, where someone sang these memorable words of wisdom:
"Well, I might contradict myself, but at least I don't contradict myself..."

Depending on where you are you can celebrate your birthday 49 hours or skip it completely :-D

We all (including me) seem to have got into a muddle over Ming's dob. Happily, I needn't have been, as her birthday is the 17th October as I had thought, so Facebook was right after all, we must remember it is the 17th next year! :)

I thought we went through all that a few days ago? :? Ming's birthday is 17th October, as this website also says. However, she's in New Zealand so 17th October starts twelve hours earlier for her than it does for us in the UK. The thread was actually revived about an hour early even for the New Zealand time zone - but it was often started early when Ming was in Bangladesh too, which is five hours ahead.

Anyway, hope you had a fabulous birthday, Ming! :D

Apologies for being a day early, Ming, but I just wanted to be first, again. :) Like last year. :D

*Takes Ming to a really expensive restaurant, in a gold plated, luxury appointed, Chauffeur driven, stretched Limo, and then to a show of Ming's choice, to celebrate her Birthday*
I think Bannerman65 started it all off by wanting to be a day early!!!!
