Happy Birthday Ming
Re: Happy Birthday Ming
I just love those Darjeeling steam locomotives in album 2, I had rather guessed that they would make an appearance! I have been to various parts of Eastern Europe, China and Korea in search of working steam but the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway looks like a very impressive system.
The other pictures are also a delight, they show a side of India that most of us would never have known about.

Re: Happy Birthday Ming
Thank you!
We couldn't take a trip in the Toy Train (as they call it) - we went to Ghoom (sleep?! ) Station in the evening, and the trains stop at 2 o'clock!
We didn't know about that; we went in a taxi, the driver should have told us! He was all enthusiastic about taking us there and all that, and we paid him and he left, we saw him chuckling and pointing at us, and when we walked up to the platform we learnt that we were late!
But the good thing was that we could inspect those locomotives and carriages.

I never went through the albums I started with photo 1 and continued on until the last pic.
They were brilliant, In many places it looked like you were the only ones there for miles on end.

I just imported all the pics directly to Google Picasa, and with three clicks, the whole lot was uploaded to 3 different albums!

What an incredible amount of photographs. Only Ming could take 33 pictures of someone changing a light bulb! I hope I didn't miss another birthday whilst viewing them, but they were great! Did you store them on your brother's laptop while you were still away, Ming? It would seem that you would need hundreds of SD cards if not!

Re: Happy Birthday Ming
Actually, I didn't take those pics of my dad opening that light bulb! He opened them to see if he could find out how they worked, and he took those pics himself! I didn't delete anything.
Nopies, we took our 120 GB external hard disk with us - we just used the laptop to put them in, and we had 2 SD cards for the camera - 1 and 2 GB.

Talk about being slow off the mark in replying! Blame it on the next Journal which has been occupying my time recently!Ming wrote:By the way, have you ever been to Darjeeling?
No, I haven't been to Darjeeling, which is why I enjoyed your photos so much. I have been up to Simla on the other side of India and I should imagine that both the climate and scenery are fairly similar. I have of course also been to Nepal, which is rather closer to Darjeeling, but I think probably a lot more mountainous. I even took a plane ride over Everest - I think that is the only way I ever want to see it!

Re: Happy Birthday Ming
Ming, belated happy birthday! I am so sorry that i missed it, I hvae been massively preoccupied lately with moving house. Do you want a belated birthday party on EF?
I remember my 13th birthday .. I was on the first day of a school trip to France; one of only two times I have been abroad in my life.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe.
Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion.
I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate.
All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.
Time to die.

Happy birthday, Ming. I hope you haven't forgotten me
