Re: A new Blyton fan
Philip is nice and you can change it to Philippa if it's a girl .
A soapstar several years ago called their baby Kiki, when I read about it the first thing I thought was 'I wonder if they got the inspiration from reading the Adventure series as a child!'
It's nice you want a Blytonian or 'proper' name and not something daft like * 'Apple', 'Bruiser', 'Teddyboo Blossom' * or some such that people use nowadays.
(* I don't expect anyone does but just in case, no offence meant to any forum members who has these names!)

My Eldest brother is called Timothy & the next to eldest is called Julian! Definitely influenced by my Mums love of the Famous Five when she was a young girl. Both are great boys names. If it's a girl, why not Julianne?

My middle name is Philippa some of my friends call me Pip sometimes!IceMaiden wrote:Philip is nice and you can change it to Philippa if it's a girl .
And yes, Philip is one of my favourite boys names too.
Jack is a good name, and I like Colin too (SS) but that's also because my dad is called Colin.
For girls, I like Lucy-Ann, Carlotta, Diana, Barbara, and also Shirley and Juliette (even though those last two aren't Blyton names).
Congrats Fiona!

There's a Shirley in The Family at Red-Roofs!
All names were used for the first time by someone at some stage, so if people started using those names often enough they'd eventually come to be regarded as ordinary.IceMaiden wrote:It's nice you want a Blytonian or 'proper' name and not something daft like * 'Apple', 'Bruiser', 'Teddyboo Blossom' * or some such that people use nowadays.

hmmm...I suppose...but not for maybe 1000 years or so!!Anita Bensoussane wrote:There's a Shirley in The Family at Red-Roofs!

Shirley was my mom's name - she was named after Shirley Temple, the child star in the 1930's.
My dad's name is Henry (known as Harry) - I've noticed that most villains or naughty school boys are named Harry in EB books!!
Of course, a good old-fashioned solid name is Robert. Enid only used that name a couple of times...in The Naughtiest Girl and in Rilloby Fair Mystery. Can't think of many other occasions she used it!

There are several Bobs, including Bob Kent in The Six Bad Boys, which could be short for Robert.

I like the names starting with A like Alison, Ashley, Abby Abadi, Andrew, Audry, Agatha, Aurora, Agogo and so on. You may want to choose the name from the list.

Re: A new Blyton fan
Alicia is a nice name beginning with A. I also like Anneka, Agnetha and Alfie - though they're not Blytonian.
Anyway, I'm sure Fiona won't be limiting herself to one letter of the alphabet!

Well maybe she could work her way through the alphabet, although I think she'd need several sets of twins to get through all 26 letters.

Re: A new Blyton fan
Donald is another good Scottish name, but I must admit I like it especially because it's my dad's name. Not to be confused with, er, ahem, a currently very public bearer of that name.
Or maybe for a not-so-obvious Blytonian connection, you could pick one of the names of the stars from the 1970s TV version — Marcus, Gary, Jennifer or Michele... or Toddy!!
