Ten Long Fingers is his best known record. He was also known as Jumping Joe Poovey, Groove Joe Poovey, Johnny Dallas and Texas Joe Poovey.

Marvin Rainwater - Whole Lotta Woman (1957)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DI779PpIezg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

He was born in Wichita, Kansas, in 1925. He trained to be a vet, but after serving in the US Navy during World War 2, he became a Country singer, initially modelling himself on Roy Acuff. In 1955 he won first place on an Arthur Godfrey Talent Show. He recorded "Gonna Find Me a Bluebird" which was a US #18 (Country #3) in 1957. "Whole Lotta Woman" was only US #60 but was a UK #1.
He always presented himself as a full-blooded Cherokee, wearing buckskins and a headband, but, in reality, was only a quarter Cherokee.
He died in 2013.

I'm listening to some traditional Indian music now, on my Sonos sytem, via Spotify - all sitars and drums, but really quite good!

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Some cracking music in this thread lately. Here's my contribution from Neil Youngs 1978 album "Comes A Time". Apparently Neil was so annoyed with the sound of the album he bought as many copies of the original release as he could, before releasing a remixed version. Allegedly he used the 100,000 or so copies he bought to shingle the roof of an outhouse!

Here is one of the greatest rock 'n' roll records ever made - Be-Bop-A-Lula by Gene Vincent from 1956:

I did post it in 2011, but I think it's worth another listen. My son was playing it in his car yesterday and my two grandsons, who were sitting the back, were singing along with it. They both know all the words. Great stuff! :D

Yes... I heard that song - it's a good one! I'm glad your grandsons know all the words - do they like music from that era?

I last listened to the song "Do you believe in Magic" by Lovin Spoonful - it's pretty nice!

My grandsons, aged six and nearly three, enjoy listening to all kinds of pop music: old and new, Farwa. :D

More a whole series of songs :wink: ! on Steve Wright's Sunday Love Songs this morning, he has quite an interesting mix of old and (relatively) new on the go.
