I have been trying without success to identify the artist who illustrated the COVERS of a particular set of Enid Blyton PAPERBACK books which were in print in the 1970s and 1980s.
- I can e-mail colour pictures to anyone interested.
- Pictures of the covers can also be found in Tony Summerfield's "Illustrated Bibliography, Part 4 (1963-1974)". Illustrator listed as uncredited. Hence the challenge !
I am hoping that someone might be able to identify the artist or suggest other avenues that I could explore.
N.B. The covers of these particular editions were NOT ILLUSTRATED BY either MARY GERNAT OR JENNY CHAPPLE. Earlier paperback editions were done by these artists.
These covers were all illustrated by the same unknown artist.
1.) The Blue Story Book (new cover 1971)
2.) The Yellow Story Book (new cover 1971)
3.) The Green Story Book (new cover 1971)
4.) Amelia Jane Again (new edition June 1972)
5.) More Twenty-Minute Tales (new edition November 1972)
6.) Mr. Meddle's Mischief (new edition June 1972)
7.) Mr Pink-Whistle Interferes (new edition June 1972)
8.) Adventures of Binkle and Flip (new edition February 1973)
9.) Merry Mister Meddle (new edition November 1973)
10.) Tricky the Goblin (1st edition 1973 )
11.) Adventures of the Wishing Chair (new edition March 1974)
As the British publisher of these (paperback) children's books is no longer in existence, I have not been able to get any information from them.
The only information I have is as follows.
- The 1971 titles were first published by DRAGON BOOKS (Atlantic Book Publishing Co.).
- The 1972 titles were first published by DRAGON BOOKS (Mayflower Books).
- The 1973 titles were first published by DRAGON BOOKS (Mayflower Books).
- The 1974 title was first published by DRAGON BOOKS (Mayflower Books).
If you are unable to help, I would be grateful if you could let me have an e-mail address for anyone who may be able to.
Thank you.
