I'm delighted to see the start of a new Five Find-Outers and Dog serial, entitled The Mystery of the Grey Heron, by our own Julie Heginbotham. :D I have just read the first chapter and it has all the ingredients of a being a first-class story and I am looking forward to further instalments between now and 23rd September. Here is the link to Chapter 1, "A Hot Summer's Day". Don't forget to log in with the members' secret password to read it:

I've just finished reading the weekly serial - Julie's latest Find-Outers one. As usual a very nice story - I wish I could think up mysteries like that! Thanks Julie and here's to the next one! :D

Glad you enjoyed it, Daisy. It's always nice to read a bit of feedback. If the writer hears no feed back then they can only assume that no one is reading the serial.

Thanks for the plug, Nigel. :)

I've just finished reading The Mystery Of The Grey Heron. It's the first continuation novel I've read since joining the society, it seemed strange reading a new story about the FFO after all these years.
Julie, I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed it. As the story progressed I became more absorbed and I've got to say it is a worthy successor to the original series. What are the mint caramels called?

Glad to hear you enjoyed it, John. Feedback is always handy to hear.

Grey Heron was the second book I wrote about the Find-Outers. Hazel Dene Cottage was the first, which I think I set at Easter hols. (Can't remember now unless I look back) and Grey Heron was a follow on, in the summer hols.

The mint caramels had no name, John. My mum used to buy mixed caramels in a bag, and they had different coloured wrappers. The mint caramels were always a green wrapper. :)

I wish I had known Grey Heron came after Hazel Dene, I would have read them in that order. Never mind. I shall make Mystery Of Hazel Dene Cottage my next read. The reason I asked about the mint caramels is I was convinced you had written them in to the story because they were a favourite of yours. Whilst I was reading I quite fancied one!

 They're not really a favourite of mine, John. I just popped them in there as I remembered my Mum always liked them. :)

Hope you continue to like, Hazel Dene Cottage, Carlotta.
