It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Re: Website Additions
Oh dear! I hadn't realised that this hardback version was coming out later this year, so I have had to add it to the Cave before the 'cartoon' version which had some fairly fruity comments - all of which now are wrongly referring to this image which I believe might be by Eileen Soper! As the reprint section can only take 36 books, there is nothing I can do about it at the moment as the infamous No. 37 will currently not post!!Tony Summerfield wrote:It looks as if the Famous Five are being republished in May next year with new covers. At present there is just the first one for you to admire!
Re: Website Additions
I hadn't realised there were so many different versions. I think I'll abandon my quest to get a copy of each version.

Oh gosh, that's a DREADFUL new cover, I cannot STAND it, what is the world coming to, I mean, why on earth would any self-respecting child these days want to read a book that looks like THAT??Tony Summerfield wrote:Oh dear! Seriously, Tony — I guess we'll just have to go back and edit No. 37 into those posts once you've got it back in the Cave! But I wouldn't miss it if we never see it again...

Re: Website Additions
A box set of the new edition FF books with the Eileen Soper covers is in the latest Book People catalogue. 22 volumes including the short stories for £24.99. A bargain if you have a young relative to buy them for. These are paperback editions not hardback as Tony said, perhaps they are exclusive to The Book People. The only other difference I can see is the title on the front cover is on a coloured band, on Tony's example it is superimposed on the illustration.

The front covers are shown in the catalogue but not on the website unfortunately. I notice they've used the wrong-way-round telescope for Five on Kirrin Island Again.

Re: Website Additions
The book that I have illustrated above (albeit accidentally!) is a hardback and not part of the full collection. It appears to be a one-off and is listed on Amazon at £9.99. We were shown the collection which was sealed when we went to lunch at Hachette.Kate Mary wrote:22 volumes including the short stories for £24.99. Re: Website Additions
I'm guessing it's a one-off as Five On A Treasure Island is 75 years old next year?
