According to Amazon, The Fly Away Cottage has over 30 stories of magic, mystery and adventure. It doesn't say if it is illustrated. I shall certainly be looking out for this. Funnily enough, I don't care for the pink-coloured book either.

I've just been looking on Ebay to see if the book is on there too.

Now I wonder if the stories in the Ebay book are the same as this new book, which is an updated version? I have been searching the Cave, but maybe I'm not looking in the correct corner.

I've looked online for the new version, but it doesn't have a "look inside" preview available on Amazon or a list of contents, so there's no telling yet if the stories are the same.

If the new The Flyaway Cottage has 30 stories, it might consist of the former The Flyaway Cottage together with another short story book. Or it might be a fresh assortment of stories which includes the tale 'The Flyaway Cottage'.

I have the Flyaway Cottage that is in the cave - 14 stories, so looks as if the new version is probably two books combined.

Sooner or later someone will see a copy, but I think it likely that it is a completely fresh collection of stories.

Talking of the covers - I too prefer the first one, rather than the pink one. While searching for 'Flyaway Cottage' I came across this site, which shows the original artwork. I was very impressed by the pink design, which wasnt designed to be pink at all! The artist must have been disappointed by what the publishers did!

Well, it's pinkish, but not as pink as the end result. Yes, if I were the artist I think I'd be disappointed as well, but I guess when one is commissioned to do a piece, the publisher has the final say and the artist ought to be thankful that his/her work is being used at all!

Thanks for that link, Rob, I have stuck the name Lisa Evans into the Cave now as the cover illustrator. Funnily enough I was contacted by another Bounty cover illustrator the other day, Laurence Whiteley, who did the covers for the Bounty Adventure Collection and he asked me to put his name into the Cave.

interesting that in the Magic Box illustration they eventually moved the cat and the bird and the key. I think I liked the artist's original design better.

So did I. The cat and key looked intriguing in the original design, but on the actual cover they're no longer as prominent. As for the frog and the pudding, they seem to have disappeared altogether (though I wasn't too keen on the cartoony-looking frog anyway).

Terry's new review of "Hello Mr Twiddle!, in the Cave makes for interesting reading. I haven't read much (if any) of Twiddle, but reading Terry's review, I couldn't help but think of Count Arthur Strong - maybe Steve Delaney was influenced by Twiddle!
