I didn't watch it all. Just picked it by how long it was.

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Great first chapter Rob, reminded me of the opening chapter in Hike a little which is certainly not a bad thing. I am looking forward to reading more and when it's finished it will almost be Christmas!

A great start Rob.
I like the way they want to steer well away from the circus of any big, noisy and dirty cities.
And the description of 'getting provisions from farms and canal-side shops, maybe occasionally eating a fine tea at a nearby inn' makes me want to book a canal holiday right away!

Thank you both!
Yes...the opening chapter did take its inspiration from Hike...well spotted!
Pete - maybe I should be getting paid by the canal trust for promoting narrowboat holidays!

For the few of us waiting for the completed story before we read it, can I respectfully ask that Spoiler Alert be at the top of any post giving any major plotlines away

Re: New Weekly Serial
I am in agreement with Rob, here, as there is plenty of scope for discussion on new chapters and inevitably anything would need a spoiler alert, so if someone is not going to read it until October they would only be safe if they didn't read this thread at all for the next five months!Rob Houghton wrote:...or you could just read it as a serial...Moonraker wrote:For the few of us waiting for the completed story before we read it, can I respectfully ask that Spoiler Alert be at the top of any post giving any major plotlines away
So often in the past the first chapter has had several remarks and there has then been almost complete silence until the last chapter. Julie's serial that has just finished started to break the mould on this and I rather hope this trend continues.

Re: New Weekly Serial
Actually it will be finished some time in October, so we'll even get parts of a third continuation story this year .Nick wrote:Great first chapter Rob, reminded me of the opening chapter in Hike a little which is certainly not a bad thing. Re: New Weekly Serial
I'm happy to read this one chapter by chapter as it comes, as I enjoy Famous Five stories but have never felt obliged to read or collect the whole series (which I haven't). The couple of Find-Outers stories we have on the site, I'm holding back on until I have read all the Blyton originals first. Which I still haven't managed to do!! But I will get to them — and then the continuation novels by Julie and Rob — in due course, I promise...

Re: New Weekly Serial
Talking of the other series, I noticed the other day that my Disappearing Tramp story is the only one on here not to credit the author on the banner...not that I'm complaining! .

Re: New Weekly Serial
Of course, with my memory it wouldn't make much difference if I read any spoilers anyway! Maybe I'll take Tony's advice and not read this thread until October.
