Re: New Weekly Serial
Poor Snubby! What *do* these men want from him?
Nice to see the trick reused!
Maybe Grand Uncle Robert may be of help without him even knowing?
Looking forward to read the next chapter and hope for lots of Serials to come!

Re: New Weekly Serial
By the way, I thought people might like to see the cottage which Rawlins' Reach is based on - a holiday cottage we stayed in back in 1980 near Tal-y-Bont, North Wales.
The cottage is pretty much as I describe it, inside and out - except I added an attic with windows in the roof in my story.
The cottage below had a twisting staircase, lined with wood panels and decorated with pewter jugs and plates and African masks. The hall was paved with great flags of Welsh slate, and the bedrooms had brass beds and patchwork quilts. There was no back door, as the cottage was built against a bank, with a footpath running above and behind the roof. there were old 'highway man' pistols hanging on the walls.

Jane and I had a holiday in north Wales before we were married. We used to frequent a pub in Tal-y-bont, and although besotted with me, she also fell in love with a dishy Welsh-speaking local. However, he never knew.

Re: New Weekly Serial
sounds like she was truly besotted...
Thanks for reminding me that its spelled 'Tal- y- Bont' Nigel - I should have remembered that after visiting the area so many times!

I believe either spelling is deemed acceptable now, but being old-fashioned, I spell it in the way it used to be.
However, they've manage to spell it three ways, here!

A bit like a town on the way to Melbourne from Inverloch (my old hometown), which according to preference can be spelled Koo-wee-rup, Kooweerup or Koo Wee Rup!! (I think the latter is the current official spelling, but I'm not sure. I don't know the place that well.)

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

I enjoyed this week's chapter too... great stuff Rob. I would have been turning over the page to the next chapter very quickly if I was reading it in one go!

Thanks Daisy! At least you don't have to wait a fortnight!! Even I am finding it amazing that it will be running until April! I hope people don't get fed up!

Well it will be a long wait for those who are waiting for the end before they start it!

Re: New Weekly Serial
I wonder if those same people would have collected several months of 'Sunny Stories' magazines or 'Enid Blyton's Magazines' before starting to read the serials?!

Re: New Weekly Serial
Another Monday and the next chapter ready and waiting... and well worth waiting for too. It's nice to have something to look forward to each Monday. It takes a moment or so to remember the story so far, and I sometimes take a quick look at the previous chapter to refresh my memory, but I do prefer to read it like this than wait until the very end. I don't print the stories off, so it would mean being glued to the screen for longer than is really comfortable. Thanks for another great read, Rob.
