Re: Website Additions
The Mercer/Turvey illustrations for Mister Meddle are extraordinary. It is fantastic to be able to see them as I doubt I will ever own an early edition, but I think I prefer Rene Cloke. The quality of the cover and frontispiece scans is brilliant.

I am just over half way through on the Mister Meddle's so it looks like another five hours tomorrow, but I did cheat a bit today by doing the Twiddle intro pics!

I pop back to this section of the Cave from time to time to see how things are progressing and I must say that the Mister Meddle pics are definitely growing on me. I'm looking forward to seeing the illustrations for the rest of the series.

Re: Website Additions
I have just added two chunky Bounty hardbacks to the Short Story section of the Cave, each with 480 pages, but I can't say what short stories they contain until I see the books or someone else helps!

Thanks Tony. I love those front-cover illustrations! So magical and atmospheric - and how nice that they are going to be in hardback.

Those books look lovely, very appealing to buy. Great covers, and would attract any child's eye. I think I'll keep on eye out for these two books too.

Those books do look lovely, although the pink cover one might not appeal so much to boys! Tony, if I see them around, I'll make a note of the contents for you!

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

The pink one doesn't appeal to me, but it isn't the colour. My favourite Noddy book has a pink cover, and I am wearing a ping shirt today. I can't put a finger on it, but I really don't like the cover.

I've never heard of the colour 'ping' Nigel!Moonraker wrote:The pink one doesn't appeal to me, but it isn't the colour. My favourite Noddy book has a pink cover, and I am wearing a ping shirt today. I can't put a finger on it, but I really don't like the cover.

It is normally only used with the colour 'pong', Julie!Julie2owlsdene wrote:I've never heard of the colour 'ping' Nigel!Moonraker wrote:The pink one doesn't appeal to me, but it isn't the colour. Nice one, Tony!
Wished I'd thought of that!

Re: Website Additions
It doesn't really look like a book cover, it reminds me more of a game or even a box of chocolates. But it's kind of attractive too.
The word "Magic" is very prominent and together with 'hocus pocus' make it sound more like Harry Potter than Enid Blyton to me.
I quite like the "fly away cottage" cover, but I think it would look better without all the stars.
I'll have a look in the main book store here and see if they have them.

Re: Website Additions
I'm now wondering what the precise difference is between "The Magical Collection" and "The Hocus Pocus Collection", but I suppose I would have to read both books to find out!
(I don't much like the pink cover either, by the way - a nice enough design, but it's just too... well... pink. I don't mind the Fly-Away Cottage, though.)
