Re: Acceptable???
I guess because they don't have any lower option than "acceptable" for the item's condition at the top of the listing (at least, I've never seen it if there is one).
The seller does have the honesty to say in the description: "AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THE PICS BOOK IS IN POOR CONDITION"... dunno about £6.00 "economy delivery" postage, though.

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Re: Acceptable???
Perhaps it's to cover insurance in case the book is lost in transit?

Not sure anyone would miss it if it was.

Re: Acceptable???
If the seller listed the book under 'antique and collectable' as I always do, then they wouldn't need to use the term 'acceptable' as the categories are different - in fact you write them yourself, so they could have put 'poor condition' in the heading.
Its a disgusting condition. I wouldn't sell a book that was in that sort of condition - I would throw it away. The postage is ridiculous. You can send a book 'signed for' for only £3.90 . As I use the eBay postage labels, all my books are automatically tracked, so that I can see if they are delivered safely or not.
My postage is £2.82 for up to three books of that size. £6.00 postage is ridiculous - and you can bet the seller is pocketing half of it as profit.
I get a bit mad when I see books like that for sale!

But then people would say, "Fancy describing that book as 'collectable'. It's only 'collectable' if you're the driver of a bin lorry collecting rubbish!"Rob Houghton wrote:If the seller listed the book under 'antique and collectable' as I always do, then they wouldn't need to use the term 'acceptable' as the categories are different...

Re: Acceptable???
Well said, Anita. The condition is clearly unacceptable.

Re: Acceptable???
True! I wouldn't sell it at all, personally. I just meant that if you sell it under 'children's books' they only give a couple of 'condition' options like 'acceptable' or 'good' or 'fine' etc. The postage is unacceptable too!
