It is rather nice to see her endorsing other writers' work too, I think.
I agree Daisy, I have a couple of letters in my collection that show she was regularly helping other writer's. (If I can find them in my messy office I will add more info, but a lot of my collection is in boxes at the moment so not sure how accessible they are.)

Enid is regularly reported as this horrid self centred person, when in fact, despite working enormous hours, she spent a lot of her time helping people.

cheers

As is more than amply demonstrated in her Editorials each fortnight in the Enid Blyton Magazine. :-D

Its amazing the amount of work she did other than writing. She seems to have been raising money for charities constantly, and not just her own. I was also extremely impressed that Enid allowed the big stores to use Noddy in their displays without having to pay her any royalties etc, simply asking for a donation to her charities instead, as we found out in the last issue. :-D

Yes Rob, the editorials are a great example of the way she helped so many people and so many causes during her life.

Your topic going through the magazines is wonderful, it really has brought this issue to the fore, it is too easy even for us EB fans to focus on her books and overlook this other amazing part of her.

Each week when you review the next editorial, I feel quite excited to see what we discover this time.

thanks

Thank you, Sue - much appreciated! :-D

Yes - I'm always amazed by what Enid seemed to fit in every week - writing her editorials etc for the magazine, writing books, going to book signings, writing and sending donations to various charities...no wonder her husband eventually suggested she stop writing the magazine as it was taking up so much time!

I'd love to know more if you're able to dig out the letters, Sue.

By the way - I see that there's a copy of The Wonder Story Book for sale on eBay...and it is described as having card covers, as you said, Tony. :-D
