Cave of Books
Please step carefully — there are literally thousands of books and magazines here, going right back to Enid's early days. How many books do you think she wrote? How many of her short stories, plays, poems and non-fiction articles were published? How many compilations and continuations were published after her death? This is the place to find out!
Feel free to browse around. And don't forget our book reviews as well as our extensive complete book listing page.
Novels/Novelettes
All the books in this section are full-length stories, which are in most cases divided into chapters. All were originally published as hardbacks and even the shorter ones (novelettes) are at least 60 pages long. There are a total of 185 books in this section.
Character Books
Books are included in this section when the entire book is about one character (or set of characters) but the book cannot be considered a novel or novelette. This section contains 223 character books that can be broken down into three distinct types, Short Story Books, Picture Story Books and Strip Books.
Short Stories Series Books
This huge section contains all the numerous series of short story books that were published, a total of 882 books. Some of these books were used in more than one series and appeared in a completely different format.
Education Books
The 229 books in this section are all broadly based on education. The section is subdivided into six parts, Poetry and Song Books, Readers, Plays, Courses and Encyclopaedias, Religious Books and Non-fiction Books.
Recreation Books
The 167 books in this section are all the remaining ones that don’t really fit into any of the other categories. It is subdivided into four parts, Books with Mixed Contents, Painting and Novelty Books, Omnibus Editions and Annuals.
Continuation Books
Most of the 129 books in this section are either sequels or prequels to Enid Blyton series and have not been written by Enid Blyton. I have also included some one-off books which were written by Enid Blyton, but have been heavily edited to form series.
Blyton Contributions
None of the 283 books in this section was written or edited by Enid Blyton, but all the various annuals, anthologies and readers contain Blyton Contributions. Many of the stories were written specially for the books concerned and have never been published elsewhere.
Enid Blyton Magazines
Between 1927 and 1959, Enid Blyton wrote the entire contents of three different series of 964 magazines, Sunny Stories for Little Folks, Enid Blyton's Sunny Stories and Enid Blyton’s Magazine. Full details, contents and illustrators are listed for all.
